Love Your Tree? Send Photos!
We want pictures of Pittsburghers hugging their favorite tree!
Let us know why the tree is so great, and we will tell your tree's story on this website. It may be a species of tree that you love, or maybe it's the big old tree on your front lawn. Send your digital photos to loveyourtree@pittsburghforest.org, or mail a copy to: 5427 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
My favorite tree is in Frick Park. It's a young American Beech - "Fagus grandifolia" - and I've taken photographs of it throughout the year because it has so many different personalities. The one I think looks best was taken in October 2006. I love this tree and I love Frick Park, particularly the newest addition which includes the restored stream called Nine Mile Run. I live in Regent Square and you will find me at Frick Park on most weekends and some week days just enjoying a walk and taking photos.
John Moyer - Regent Square

I found this tree while driving through the neighborhood of Sheradon in the
City of Pittsburgh several years ago. I was taken back on how they were
able to plant two trees and intertwine them over the sidewalk into one large
beautiful tree. What a grand walkway to this home. I tried to hug it as best
I could!
Molly Stephany - Lawrenceville Tree Tender

On Halloween, Molly was able to catch up with Linda Kemmerling and take a picture of her next to her favorite tree on Fisk Street in Lawrenceville. She loves this tree because it is her mother's, and she has watched it grow for over 30 years. Even cute little devils love trees!!!

"Here is a picture of a tree, not necessarily being loved, but more I imagine it giving something to us ... I suppose there are a few ways one might view it.
It is unfortunately one of the trees razed by the city early this year. The location was about a block off Murray and Bartlett in Squirrel Hill. It was removed by the city as I spoke with the one of the crew taking it down. Not being an expert, I don't know if the rot here was fatal or not....

Alice Vaday, Tree Tender, pauses during a Carrick Tree Care and Pruning Session. Weeding, mulching, and proper pruning are great ways to show tree-love!
