Summer Tree Care Tips
During the hottest part of the year, remember to give your trees extra attention. Young trees have an especially hard time in the summer.
To help your trees survive the summer:
Water: During dry periods when there is little or no rain in a week, slowly water your tree with a garden hose. Turn the water on its lowest setting and water the tree this way for up to an hour.
Mulch: apply 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the base of each tree, but do not let the mulch touch the trunk. It should look sort of like a mulch donut. Mulch helps retain soil mosture, encourages healthy microorganisms, and increases root growth.
Weed: Remove weeds from around your tree.
