Tree Climbing School
Penn State offers Tree Climbing School
Tree enthusiasts will have an opportunity to embrace the trees through a five day tree-climbing school that will teach safety and proper care of regional species as well as the fundamentals of climbing. The five-day climbing school is designed to teach the fundamentals of safe tree climbing and maintenance. Major emphasis will be placed on learning the skills required to climb and prune trees.
The course will include classroom and field instruction by several experienced tree climbers and industry representatives, including Kris Edson, lead tree surgeon and arborist at Penn State, and James Savage, certified arborist and instructor of Arboriculture at Penn State. Much of the course’s time will be spent in trees learning climbing techniques.
Enrollment is limited, preregistration is required.
